Tom has been working in Sierra Leone since 2006, when he established ManoCap to make investments in small and medium sized enterprises in the country. Over the last 15 years he has made extensive investments in West African businesses, in the finance, agricultural, fisheries, manufacturing and services sectors.

He is also the founder of the Welbodi Partnership, a charity that helps run the Ola During Children’s Hospital in Sierra Leone and the Freetown Music Festival, an annual event promoting live music in Sierra Leone.

Daniel has over 15 years of investment and operational experience across the energy, financial services and technology sectors. He started his career in the USA as an electrical engineer with Nexant Inc., later joining Barclays Capital as an investment banking associate specializing in M&A and project finance transactions for clients in the US power and cleantech sectors. Since 2010, Daniel has worked with ManoCap in various capacities, including serving as Managing Director of Splash Mobile Money, one of the firm’s portfolio companies. Daniel holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College (New York) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Thorbjørn has been building and designing solar systems in Sierra Leone since 2015. He has a deep understanding of the operational challenges of working in frontier markets. During this period, he has worked with a range of clients, from small regional hospitals to large corporates and UN agencies. Thorbjørn has a PhD in Physics from Aarhus University focused on solar energy. Prior to this he served in the Danish Army in post-conflict Kosovo.

Paras is passionate to help foster the economic and social development of Africa through investing in companies that catalyse the ecosystem via the benefits of energy, and helping these companies grow in a sustainable manner.

As a founding team member at EAV, Paras has been instrumental in building the fund’s Investment thesis and its portfolio strategy. Paras drove EAV’s first C&I, Wireless ISP and LPG investments as part of executing on the overall fund’s thesis. Paras also lead the transaction into d.light, the first fund’s first Exit.
